Hardware France has been publishing statistics of the resilience of desktop PCs key components. They have been reviewing graphics cards, operative memory modules, processors, motherboards, hard drives, solid state drives, and power supply units. The following summary concerns graphics and RAM.
Among graphics cards Sapphire and Gainward demonstrated good results. Sapphire registered 1.15% fail rate and Gainward – 1,23%. Almost double amount of complaints fell on ASUS and Inno3D. ASUS received back 2,13% of its production as faulty, while Inno3D got back 2,19%. However, among the individual devices, the most unreliable were Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti WindForce 3X OC. Its failure rate was 6.59%. Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon R9 290 did slightly better (6,15%). Inno3D iChill GeForce GTX 980 Ti X3 Ultra had similar results – 5,98 % were returned.
If there is something you can rely on, it is RAM. Failure rates were extremely low. The most reliable among RAM producers were Kingson (0.14%) and Crucial (0.19%). Yet, the most troubled manufacturers G.Skill and Corsair still do not exceed 1% (0,54% and 0,9% correspondingly). We must note that the latter two were the most popular among the overclockers. So that may be a reason for increased number of returns.
