QNAP Systems carry on with its relentless work and announces one product after another. This time the company releases TS-x53Be series storage devices. TS-x53Be targets home users and small offices. It is nice and small, yet it is not any less reliable that QNAP’s superior models.
The series consists of two models, TS-253Be and TS-453Be. The first one fits two drives and the second fits four drives. Both models use standard SATA 3.0 (6Gbits/s) interface and equipped to hold either 3,5-inch or 2,5-inch hard drives or their SSD alternatives.
What is outstanding in QNAP solutions is that it is no longer a container for drives with an interface, it is practically a mini-server. These models equipped with a processor, Intel Celeron J3455 of Apollo Lake family (released in 2016). Although it is a “junior” processor model, it contains four cores work with a frequency range between 1,5Ghz and 2,3Ghz. The amount of memory installed is 2GB and 4GB DDR3L correspondingly. As if that isn’t enough, storage systems have a PCIe 2.0 x2 expansion slot, that allows extra customisation to meet everyone’s specific needs.
